The magicJack finished third that year following Rapinoe's goals. The magicJack ended up disbanding in late 2011, and WPS collapsed early 2012. The year 2011 saw Rapinoe play a few games with Sydney Football Club FC of the Australian W-League before returning to the United States. Next, she played with the Seattle Washington Sounders Women (now the Sound FC). In 2013, Rapinoe spent her time doing soccer with France. She was then a part of in the Seattle Reign FC now OL Reign of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL created after the WPS split up. Rapinoe became one of the leading players for her team. She eventually rose to become the captain. The first time Rapinoe played in the FIFA Women's World Cup was in 2011. The contributions of Rapinoe helped to help the U.S. Women's World Cup to claim two consecutive championships in 2015 and 2019. The team was awarded cocaptain status in 2018. Rapinoe had the chance to score two goals as United States beat Australia 4-3 in the bronze medal match at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Japan had been prevented from attending the Olympics until 2021 because of COVID-19, a pandemic.
